Essay 2
The second essay asks you to follow up and expand on any of the Kurzweil responses
(responses 4-6). The possibilities include
- Life Cycle of a technology: Choose a specific technology and describe its
progress fromprecursor, to invention, through obsolescence.
- Uploading the Brain: pros and cons of storing the contents of the brain
in a machine.
- The importance of Embodiment: Does mind require a body? Are they separate
things? (These last two may be combined into one topic, but don't get too
abstract)
4-5 pages, double-spaced. As with essay 1, research is not required, but you
may use sources as long as you cite them.
