Instructional Essay
This essay requires you to write a set of detailed instructions to a non-technical reader on one of the following topics:
- Using a specific software tool (MSWord, Dreamweaver, PGP, or something specific to your field)
- Performing a specific laboratory procedure
- Performing a specific field procedure
- Setting up a home computer network (wireless or ethernet)
- Maintaining security on a computer network
You may suggest other topics, but you must get approval before you begin writing.
The audience for these instructions will be non-technical readers who need to perform these procedures; they may be students or simply new to the field.
The essay should be 750 - 1000 words (about 3 -5 pages of text, not including illustrations, if they are used).
Research is not required, but if you use any sources (including textbooks) you must cite them.
