For this essay, you will review the film March of the Penguins. Like several of the review-essays in The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2005, you should not limit your review to your likes and dislikes. Rather, you should discuss the movie in relationship to larger issues. Some of the issues raised by the film include
- the environment
- our relationship with the rest of the animal kingdom
- our understanding of the natural world
- survival
- family / kin relationships
Don't try to discuss all of these in one essay. You should focus on some issue, and use the film as a means for discussing that issue. You will need to use plenty of examples from the film to support your thesis.
The essay should be 4-5 pages, doublespaced.
