Instructional Essay
This essay requires you to write a set of detailed instructions to a non-technical reader on one of the following topics
- Using a specific software tool (MSWord, Excel, Dreamweaver, PGP, or something specific to your field)
- Performing a specific technical office procedure (faxing, teleconferencing, etc)
- Performing a specific interpersonal office procedure (customer relations, meeting protocols, etc)
- Using a specific sales or marketing technique
- Using a specific management technique
- Setting up a home computer network (wireless or ethernet)
- Setting up an office computer network
- Maintaining security on a computer network
You may suggest other topics, but you must get approval before you begin writing.
The audience for these instructions will be non-technical readers who need
to perform these procedures; they may be students or simply new to the field.
The essay should be 750 - 1000 words (about 3 -5 pages of text, not counting
illustrations).
