This essay asks you to consider the social role or roles of science. The essay should be 3 -5 pages, and should address questions such as
- What are the social implications or uses of science?
- What are the social responsibilities of scientists?
- How are science and culture related? To what extent is science independent
of culture, and to what extent is it embedded in a culture?
Don't try to answer these questions in the abstract (you only have 3 -
5 pages); instead, chose one particular field of study (your own or any
that interests you).
