Proposal for Final Project My project will be a proposal for a course website for Western Civilization I. The site will be organized around three themes based on time-periods: the Ancient World, the Middle Ages, and the Early Modern Period (Renaissance and Reformation). The purpose of the site will be to supplement a traditional Western Civilization class. As such, it will include primary and secondary source readings, map activities, writing assignments and study aids. In addition, I will suggest ways to utilize some of the unique features of the web to enhance the teaching and learning processes. These may include online discussions, web scavenger hunts, analysis of art and architecture through web resources, and/or the use of audio and video resources that pertain to the study of Western Civilization. Ultimately, the project could be a springboard for the creation of other course websites for classes including Ancient Greek Civilization, Egypt and the Ancient Near East, Civilization in the Middle Ages, The Renaissance in Europe, and others. |
