If you are still wondering whether this game can be listed a literature, I believe the answer is yes. This game takes the idea of a “Choose you own adventure” book and simply makes it digital. It is of course understood that most books contain more text and detail than “You are standing at the end of a road before a small brick building,” but that does not mean Adventure does not have its place in the literary world.
Adventure takes a reader through a fictional world and tells him a story. The fact that the reader actively chooses the story does not mean that the story being read is not literature. Some may argue that the fact that the story is not given to the reader makes this strictly a game and not literature. But the engaging value of Adventure simply adds another quality to it that many other pieces of literature lack. Faulting a piece of text for being too engaging does not seem fair, and since the story is still the most important part of Adventure I believe it must be considered a part of the literary genre.
