Pro-Net Neutrality

The Internet is currently the greatest medium for free and open speech. This is because websites are free to put virtually any content they want on the internet without being being censored by the internet providers or government. Conversely, users are able to access virtually any content they want on the internet. Pro-net neutrality supporters say that without net neutrality legislation, phone and cable companies may start discriminating against content providers. They may, for example, block or slow down competitor's websites. Also, there is fear that a tiered system will be created where content providers who spend lots of money will be able to be accessed quickly, and all other websites will be slow.  That those that argue that companies should be able to do what in a free market, neglect the fact these companies have been heavily subsidized by government.
