Corrections to the Class Notes

Note: To make it easier for you to keep track of the corrections, all entries made from Friday, June 21, to Wednesday, July 3, will be in a brighter shade of red, and all entries made on or after Thursday, July 4, will be in black.

(p. B20) Towards the bottom of the page, in the 1st square root expression for RMSE, the se term should be squared. (So it's var + bias², or equivalently, se² + bias².)
(p. B21) In the 1st sentence of the 2nd paragraph, it should be focus instead of focused.
(p. B31, line 9) It should be B instead of B-1.
(p. B33, line 1) It should be having instead of have.
(p. B35, lines 1 and 10) The last superscript for the ordered replicates should be (B) instead of (n).
(p. B40, line 9 of 2nd paragraph) It should be on instead of of.
(p. 41) The word interval should follow percentile at the end of the 4th line.
(p. B42, 6 lines from bottom) The last superscript for the sequence of replicates should be B instead of n.
(p. B44, line 6) The word before not is is.
(p. B45, line 10) Right before the 2nd method, it should be BCA (and not B(A)).
(p. B46, 3 lines from bottom) Insert the word method right before the word can.
(p. C3, line 9) The 2nd sum should stipulate that k not equal i in addition to requiring k > j.
(p. C4, line 7) It should be shouldn't instead of should.
(p. C6, 12th line of 1st paragraph) It should be variance instead of bias.
(p. C7, line 8) The bracketed term should be squared, as in the line above.
(p. D7, near middle of page) The sentence that ends with "on p. 99 of Miller" shouldn't end there --- instead, there should be a comma after Miller, and the sentence should continue with then the pivot at the top of the page has a T_I-1 distribution.
(p. D12, near middle of page) In the series expression for X_i, it should be E_i-j instead of E_j.
(p. D15, near middle of page) It should be behaves instead of behave.
(p. D16, 4 lines from the top) The sample mean of the Y_i needs to be squared on the left side of the equation.
(p. D21, line 5) The reference should be to p. D15 instead of p. D22.
(p. E2) In the 1st equation I omitted the expected value in the 3rd expression --- I should have the expected value of the whole 3rd expression, just like I do for the 2nd expression. (The expected value is only gone in the last expression where I have replaced the sample variance by the true variance (by taking the expected value).)
(p. E3, last line) The 5th variance should be 3 (and not 1).
(p. E5, near middle of page) Right before I have "we can say that the weights" insert if the variances are equal, and at the end of the sentence after "to the variances" insert in this case.
(p. E6, last line) It should be w'_i instead of w_i.
(p. E12c, line 15) I have an extra ) at the end of the sentence.
(p. E12f) The p-value for Welch's F test is wrong. It should be 0.0567388 (instead of 0.0877485).
(p. E12g, 2nd sentence of 2nd paragraph) A ) is missing at the end of the sentence (between the word approach and the period).
(p. E12g) In the expression for the Games-Howell intervals, I left the bars off of the two sample means.
(p. E21, line 5) Insert a comma after the word numerator.
(p. E21, line 7) It should be to SSE instead of SSA.
(p. E24, 3rd line from bottom) It should be to tests instead of test.
(p. E25, 2nd line from bottom) Both sides of the equation in the box should be divided by 4.
(p. E26) after the 2nd boxed expression, insert for a balanced design to complete the sentence.
(p. E26, line 14) The 4th word should be not instead of be.
(p. E26, 5th line from bottom) The 1st word should be accurate instead of small.
(p. E27, line 11) The 5th word from the end of the line should be there instead of the.
(p. E33, line 4) There should be a period after bootstrapping, and since should be capitalized to start a new sentence.
(p. G2, lines 1 & 2) Insert can be used between "test" and "provided" on line 1, and insert very before "close" on line 2.
(p. H1) Insert and fine-tune after "assess" in the 4th line of the 2nd paragraph.
(p. H7, 7th line from bottom) It should be I'll spare instead of "I spare."
(p. H9, line 5) The power is 1/3 (not 1/2 --- it's a bit hard to read).
(p. H9, 8th line from bottom) Replace "possibility" with general rule.
(p. H9, 7th line from bottom) It should be known instead of "know."
(p. H11, 4th line from bottom) While the f-hat should have a subscript of (i), the 1st f shouldn't have that subscript.
(p. H12, line 3) There should be another expectation at the start of the line (making it match what is on line 5).
(p. H12, line 4) It should be x_i (lower case instead of upper case).
(p. I2, line 7) h should equal n - 2g instead of 1 - 2g.
(p. I3, 7th line above the figure at the bottom of the page) The expression needs to be divided by (1 - 2 delta)².
(p. J4, line 4) It should be have instead of "having".
(p. J5, 6th line from bottom) It should be If in the end we use instead of "If we end use".
(p. J9, line 8) It should be (hopefully) bias-corrected instead of "bias-corrected (hopefully)".
