Professional Summary

Versatile economic analyst with exceptional writing and editorial skills.  My recent book, Days on the Family Farm, U of Minnesota Press, 2007, is based on farm diaries and ledgers from 1901-1944 but appeals to a general audience.  Prior research had focused on issues of agriculture, environment and institutions in developing countries -- especially Latin America. Tenured at Mason with 20+ years of experience. 

Director of undergraduate economics programs at Mason since 1999. Develop, market, and supervise undergrad programs for 500 majors and minors. Participate in hiring and supervising administrative staff. 

Co-chaired the Sustainability Assessment 2007 for Mason; helped launch and execute Mason's climate action communication campaign in 2008-09.

Active volunteer in Cedar Lane UU Church, Bethesda MD since 1997.  Have served as Church Treasurer, Finance Committee Chair, Board of Trustees, Grounds Committee Chair, and Facilities Committee Co-chair.  

Associate, World Resources Institute, Washington DC, 1991-93.
Conducted joint research and provided technical and outreach assistance.

Consultant with World Bank, USAID, The Nature Conservancy, Louis Berger, and IFPRI among others.
