Media Reform

Jeff Chester, Executive Director of the Center for Digital Democracy asserts that the communications system in the United States is at a crossroad and the country's digital destiny is at stake. The United States needs a media system that nurtures democracy, but people have to fight for it.

Journalist, Bill Moyers asserts, "we need to know what is happening, and big media won’t tell us; if we need to know why it matters, and big media won’t tell us; if we need to know what to do about it, and big media won’t tell us it’s clear what we have to do: we have to tell the story ourselves."

A Media Reform Movement is taking place right now and half of the country doesnt know about it because BIG MEDIA WONT TELL US! WE WILL! The Free Press Reports:

  • Five Corporate Giants own the major TV networks, cable channels, local TV and radio stations, movie studios, newspapers, magazines, and popular Web sites. These companies control what we watch, read, and hear every day. And where do our views and concerns fit into all of this? They dont!
  • Cable and Phone Companies want to control the Internet. As gatekeepers, these corporations will decide what we can access on line, if the public doesnt fight for Net Neutrality--Media Giants will monopolize the Internet.
