Although people don’t see it or know what is going on with cyber terrorism every day, it is going on. At this very moment, it is most likely that several terrorists are on the Internet trying to hack into personal computer systems, and with the recent attacks on Americans by terrorists, it is also likely that at least one country is working towards finding ways to hack into critical U.S. computer systems to try to cause our nation to have a catastrophe.

(K9's)

Government computer systems, believe it or not, aren’t completely safe and secure from cyber terrorist attacks. In 1997, the Pentagon ran a simulation of a cyber attack and found that it wouldn’t be all that difficult to shut down 911 systems in a city, mess with military forces, and destroy electrical power in certain cities in the United States. (Cyberterrorism) Because this simulation was almost 7 years ago, it is easy to understand how much additional technology we have in this day and age compared to then. “At a hearing in November 1997, Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Arizona, chairman of a Senate technology subcommittee, reported that nearly two-thirds of U.S. government computers systems have security holes.”(Christensen) This is a very chilling fact that should be brought to the attention of everyone that lives in the United States. With our computer systems being this vulnerable, how can we truly feel safe from terrorists in other countries that wish us harm?
