As is the case with most African countries, there is little on Nigeria and very few Nigerian websites on the Internet. As of September 1996, for example, mediainfo only had references to daily newspapers on line in three African countries and none in Nigeria. And, since there are nowhere near as many African studies centers than there are similar institutes for Asia, Latin America, or the Middle East in western universities, there are also not very many websites offering general information and gathering links to other resources. The best sources include:
The University of Pennsylvania/African Studies Center has an excellent website on African issues in general and Nigerian issues in particular.
The Nigerian Connection at the University of Birmingham (UK) is another similar page with more analyses and links to dissident organizations.
Eye on Africa is a source providing general information on Africa. Since more of that material is available on the University of Pennsylvania's site, this link will take you directly to Eye on Africa's Nigerian page.
One World is a good source of world news and is, today, probably the best available source on Nigeria.
The Coalition Against Dictatorship in Nigeria is one of several dissident organizations with its own home page. This one also has links to other material on Nigeria.
