As one might expect given its position as one of the world's leading software producers and the number of technically sophisticated Indian emigres, there is plenty of material on India on the internet. However, it is also not surprising that most of the websites were created with issues other than politics in mind. Therefore, be prepared to work your way through a number of largish sites in doing searches on Indian politics. The following websites are a good place to start.
The India Network is a massive website maintained primarily for the emigre community. You can find almost everything imaginable on it. It also offers a listserv-based daily news service. Subscribe to India-L by sending the standard message to listserv@bgsu.edu.
The Virtual Library on India provides a first-rate set of resources on the entire country, not just its politics.
The Indian Express is one of several Indian newspapers with a home page. It gave exceptionally good coverage to the 1996 parliamentary elections and has continued to provide wideranging information since.
There are also a number of general websites in India that provide political as well as other information and links to other resources. Among the best are.
Supporters of the BJP now have a website. When this page was created it was not clear either how it was connected to the party or whether or not the website would survive.
