German politics poses a problem for English-speaking Internet users. While there is plenty of material on Germany on the net, very little of it is in English. To make matters worse, some of the sites that claim to have material in English, in fact, have very little of it. In short, finding information on Germany beyond the basics presented here is likely to involve some frustrating surfing time with your favorite search engine.
WESS (West European Specialists Section) is a source maintained by American librarians and contains a good mixture of German and English language sources on Germany and other major European countries.
Germany Up Close provides answers to basic Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs in Internet-speak) about Germany.
The British Political Studies Association has links to most official and political party sites, though, again, most of them are in German only.
The German government has a home page with links to all its offices. Again, little of this will be in English
Debatte is a British-based (and hence English) journal which publishes critical writings on German politics.
Germany Alert provides information on the racist far right almost exclusively in English.
The Free University of Berlin is in the process of trying to create a single home page for all German websites.
