ENGL 505

How to Create A Link on an Object with Rollover Identifier in Dreamweaver

1) Click cursor within the parameters of the image so that hotspot tools appear in tool bar.

2) Choose hotspot tool to best fit your image (circle, square or polygon).

3) Draw hotspot over image.

4) Click cursor on hotspot to be sure that it is highlighted.  Type the link address in the tool bar link box.  Or if you have a split screen with other pages listed, you can drag the connector tool next to the link box to the linked page. (This hotspot is linked to a page called "LilyPics.com".)

5) Click cursor on hotspot again and go into the coding (you may have to split your screen if you have not already done so).  At the end of the link line, but still within the ">" hit the space bar to reveal a drop-down menu.

6) Select "title" in the drop down menu and hit enter.  Type the rollover identifier for your image (in this example, "HOME").

7) Refresh your page and save changes.  The identifier should appear when the mouse is rolled over the image and clicking the image should bring you to your linked page.
