- Leave out elements that are unnecessary to the page/site's purpose.
- Remove elements until the page breaks--that is, until it no longer serves its functions--in order to determine the minimum.
- Use "white space" for emphasis and to create a sense of openness.
- Devote attention to the details of the remaining elements. Minimalism should not necessarily be applied to the discrete elements.
- Be sparing with color. (Even muted colors have an impact.)
- "Minimalist" does not mean "empty-looking."
