1. Leave out elements that are unnecessary to the page/site's purpose.
  2. Remove elements until the page breaks--that is, until it no longer serves its functions--in order to determine the minimum.
  3. Use "white space" for emphasis and to create a sense of openness.
  4. Devote attention to the details of the remaining elements. Minimalism should not necessarily be applied to the discrete elements.
  5. Be sparing with color. (Even muted colors have an impact.)
  6. "Minimalist" does not mean "empty-looking."
