Class Attendance Policy Attendance is REQUIRED in this class and your attendance grade will depend on your physical presence in the class. For record purposes, attendance sheet will be passed around in the class at random. If you are not present when I pass the sheet, you will be marked absent, even if you come in immediately afterwards. Arriving late is totally unacceptable. (You are expected to show up for work on time, you need to start practicing now). It will be your responsibility to keep a track and sign the attendance sheet. If it is necessary for you to be absent from the class please take prior permission. If you foresee your absence on a specific day, please send me an email and contact your friends to make sure that you do not miss important information - both substantive and administrative. Attendance on guest speaker days is absolutely mandatory and will weigh twice that of regular days. Similarly, attendance on project presentation days is also important. It is important to see the projects of other students and learn something about the industries and products they are looking at. Furthermore, it is inappropriate to expect fellow students sit though your presentation and you not sit through theirs. It appears that a number of students do not understand it rude, disturbing, and inappropriate to walk in and out of class during the session. I expect that once inside the classroom, you will refrain from leaving in between. Walking around and leaving classrooms during lectures and discussions not only causes disturbance but also shows lack of respect to the instructor and your fellow classmates. If you did not learn proper manners earlier, now is the time to learn them. Kindly visit the bathroom and/or food vendors prior to coming to class. If you think you will need to leave the midway between the class, please speak to me before the class starts. If you're not willing to make the investment of your time, preparation, and attendance, this is not the class for you. |
