This article indicates the different kinds of questions that make for good interviews.

They include:

Double Barreled Questions

Double barreled questions are ones that are consist of two questions in one. They almost have a multiple choice style to them and allow the interviewee to pick the one they want to answer.

Close Ended Questions

These questions sometimes suggest bias, insult or disrespect. Interviewees can only give three answers to close ended questions: yes, no and dodge the question.

Open Ended Questions

These questions are sometimes referred to as the "you steer, they paddle" type of question. Open ended questions usually start with a how, why or what and encourage the interviewee to describe, explain or give more detail.

Scanlan summed up his article with a few very good words.
He said,"You don't need editorializing, grandstanding, or filibustering to get meaningful answers. You just need to ask good questions."
