Update: I am officially out of the taping business. I recently sold my Tascam DA-P1, and Eco-Charge System on Ebay. I still have a Sony d-7 and my two Sennheiser Mics, but I consider myself officially retired.

Many many years ago I started taping the Grateful Dead. On my first taping tour you could pretty much say I was the shit as far as tapers go. I had two Senheiser 441 microphones, and a Marantz PMD 420 portable cassette deck. This lasted for exactly one tour, and then I became just an average to below average taper, depending on were the Grateful Dead office put the taping section. In the early 90's I upgraded to DAT (Sony D-7). For those of you not familar with format, DAT stands for Digital Audio Tape, and it was supposed take over the world. Currently it is being phased out. Soon after going to my last Grateful Dead concert in June 95, I decided to make the big investment and bought a Tascam DA-P1. Soon after getting it, the fat man died. Since then I have taped some Phish, Widespread Panic, and Fugazi shows, but I am pretty much in semi-retirement. I have decide to let the next generation of tapers who can afford to spend $6000.00 dollars on a rig that includes schep micophones and a lap top do my taping for me.

Enough rambling here is my current taping setup:

Sony D7
2 X Senheiser 441

Home Recording Units
2X Tascam's DA-20
Tascam CDR-700
