Bands:
- The Slackers - My favorite and one of the best bands out there, no question.
- Bad Religion - Fathers of modern punk rock. Mellowed out a little but every bit as insightful as ever.
- Nekromantix - Danish punk rockabilly. Much much better than it sounds on paper.
- Tiger Army - Another amazing psychobilly band.
- The Pietasters - Fantasic ska band. They tour all over the world but DC's their hometown so we get lots of shows.
- The Pogues - Shane MacGowan has returned and one of the most beautiful bands (NOT physically) is back together.
Shows:
- 9:30 Club (DC) - DC's venue for big name acts. Worth checking out the schedule once in awhile.
- The Black Cat (DC) - Great place for indie, punk, ska, metal, etc. A real club.
- The State Theatre (Fall's Church) - Classy place nearby. Gets some decent acts.
- The Ottobar (Baltimore) - A small club that gets some surprisingly big name acts in Bmore. Worth the drive. Baltimore clubs are better than DC ones, IMHO.
- The 8x10 (Baltimore) - Another hole in the wall joint up near Fort McHenry.
- The Sidebar (Baltimore) - More a bar than a club. Gets mostly local stuff. A nice place to waste an evening.
Other:
- Epitaph Records - Nexus for punk bands, ska, etc.
- DC Ska - Good listing of ska and punk shows in DC and Bmore.
