Adjectives and Clauses

I. Using your two chosen sentences, now add one adjective to convey the physical appearance of the person in the sentence, and one adjective to convey the physical appearance of the door/car/snow/classroom/office

But

II. Make sure that your adjectives enhance the reader's experience of the emotion you are trying to convey in each sentence

III. Now add at least one clause to each of your two chosen sentences which conveys the following information about the subject of each. If you can, try to intensify your reader's experience of the prevailing emotion in your sentences through your word choices:-

a) the man is a well-known poet who has just won the National Book Award for his most recent collection, Seclusion
b) the woman is a lawyer in a busy legal office which primarily carries out pro bono work
c) the children are on their first visit to northern Canada in the winter
d) the teacher has just learned that she has won the lottery
e) the patient is an elementary school teacher in his early twenties, dressed completely in black, and exceptionally pale-skinned
