the Library |
Polaris is the catalogue which allows you to search through all the material held in Fenwick Library and the Johnson Center. |
Aladin gives you access to all GMU materials, plus all the book and journal holdings of the following universities: AU, Catholic, Gallaudet, George Washington, Marymount and UDC. You may borrow books and other material in person from any of these libraries on production of your GMU ID card. You may also order a book or article from one of these libraries by filling in an Interlibrary Loan Form (book or article). You may also work in any of these libraries to consult material you cannot borrow. |
Aladin also links you to the following article databases which may be particularly useful for research into the mass media:- |
FirstSearch gives you access to more specialized databases in the sciences, arts and humanities. Several of these may also be useful in your research. |
Interlibrary Loan (book or article) allows you to order any book or article from any library in the country. You may wait up to a week, and perhaps longer for difficult-to-find material, for your book or article to arrive. Allow for this wait when planning your research. |
A specialist member of staff will offer students assistance with individual research projects. Try Research Assistance for Media Projects. You may also find help in the Library's Internet Sources for Communication. |
Finally, the Library runs courses to help you search efficiently for research materials. You may set up an individual appointment or drop in to one of the scheduled classes. |
