Most people have at least heard of Wikipedia and many have used it. It is the first wiki I encountered on the internet.

But I treat it like just another website ... as a viewer, not an editor. This works for me when I am a passive consumer of information, but as I have continued to use technology in my classes, I have wished for a way to share work space on the web with my students.

Wiki what?

A wiki is an online space where my students can all work on the same file no matter where they are as long as they has access to the internet.

And this is the beauty of a wiki ... the site users are the site creators. No middle man is required.
