Panic Room Questions

As you watch the Panic Room listen/look for answers to the following questions.  Some of the questions have specific, concrete answers from the film, others ask for your opinion or interpretation.

Answers are due Tuesday, March 1, 2005 by class time. 

1.   During the first scenes of the movie, real-estate agents are showing Meg  Altman a house.
       What is the most unique feature of the house?

2.    What is the street number of the house?

3.    Which man breaks into the house first?

4.    What is in the house that the men want?

5.    Why doesn't the emergency phone work?

6.    Where did Sarah learn Morse Code for S.O.S. (...---...)?

7.    How is Meg able to call her ex-husband?

8.    Why does Meg leave the room the second time?

9.    Describe two camera techniques used in this movie to add suspense. Do you think they were effective? Why or why not?

10.  What are three adjectives that describe Meg?

11.  What are three adjectives that describe Sarah?

12.  Rank the three men who break into the house. #1 in your list should be the worst of the men and #3 the "best" of the men.
        Use evidence from the film to support your judgments.

13.  At the end of the movie, why did Burnham come back into the house at after he had left?

14.  What do you think of the ending of the film? In you opinion, was it realistic? Why or why not?

15.  Write a short (one or two sentence) description of the plot. Focus on the conflict presented in the story and how it was
        resolved.

16.  Were you satisfied with the ending of the film? Was the central conflict of the film resolved in an effective way?  Explain
         your answer.

17.  If the message of City Slickers is that each person needs to find one thing on which to focus his/her life, what is a
        possible message of this film?  Explain your answer using evidence from the film.
