Final Research Projects
Engl 101-MT9-f06
I look forward to seeing you all on Tues at 1:30pm for your presentations of your research projects. You need to send me your annotated bibliography by Monday afternoon (5pm at the latest) in Word or HTML format. I will put links to your projects on this page and when you do your presentations in class I will put up electronic copies of what you have done. You can also have a paper copy in front of you when you present but you should not read what you have written but speak informally about your research question, how you got interested in it, what sources you were able to find (three books, three peer reviewed scholarly articles and three web pages), what each source covers, how you found them, how reliable or controversial you think the information is, and how you would use it in a 15 page paper.
You can glance at what you have written to refresh your memory, in other words, but you should speak directly to the class. I expect some of you will have found the same sources so part of your presentation will be taking comments and questions from the class. There will therefore be a class participation component of the assignment since I expect the class to ask questions, make suggestions, etc. Each presentation should be about five minutes long, although questions may extend the time a bit. It’s important to return to your research question at the end of the presentation and say something about how you think you would answer it based on what you learned from your investigations. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Below are links to each of your projects. I have not used your full names to protect your privacy.
