Questions on Battle of Algiers

1: How does the portrayel of women as the people who set the
bombs show the role of women in the movie?

2:  The movie goes in depth to show what happens to Algeria after
the resistance the movie centers around is over.  Does the fact that
Algeria got its independance 3 years after the resistance is put
down, make the torture executed by the military futile?  It doesn't
change the ultimite result, but merely hurts many people in the
process.

3: Was the FLN justified in bombing public places in response to
the military's bombings?  Would the FLN have been better off not
sinking to the level of the military, and not resorting to bombing
public places?

4:  The torture by the military is shown in a negative light, but at
the same time, the cinamatography that portrays the bombing by
the FLN shows many women and children in teh bomb sites.  This
evokes alot of empathy from teh viewer to the victems, in essence
showing the FLN in a negative light.  Doesn't showing both the
military and the FLN negativly emphasive how this type of
terrorism-driven revolutionary movemenet shows how it is ultimity
a lose lose situation for everyone involved?

5:  Most people would think that Ali la Pointe has an epiphany and
goes from being a 2-bit pedler to being a revolutionary leader.  Is
it possible that he never actually changes, and he stays the exact
same me-first, self centered, con artist that he was in the
beggining?
