Image Assignment
My first set of images is a before and after of a picture of my father-in-law when he was a baby. Every time he sees this picture, he never fails to say "Now I was a cute baby." Being the good son-in-law, I always agree with him. Anyways...
The image was originally scanned at 300dpi. I then resized the image to 72dpi. From here I began using the Healing Brush and Clone tool to fix the missing corners at the top of the image, as well as the various creases apparent in the original. I cropped the image again to better center the image, then used the Magnetic Lasso tool to trace around Donnie's head and body. With this selected I made a layer and began using the Color Overlay and Paintbrush tools to color the image. Here is a before and after:

My next image is an abstracted engraving, though this image is a cartoon instead of an engraving. Essentially, I took the original image and traced the snake and arm with the Magnetic Lasso tool. Then I copied this selection, and pasted the selection into a layer on a new image. From there, I created a Background layer and filled that layer with my background color. Then, I created a transparent layer between the background layer and image layer.
