Tag dated 07-19-2006: vapor trails like scratch marks I painted before I left/

EV090: Hey Sidney, I have sort of a weird question. You've been keeping uo with our wishing well escapades right?

X_Sidny: Yeah, I haven't been on much this summer but I've basically been following the thread you guys made. It looks good so far.

X_Sidny: ooh escapades, good word.

MiriamPaintsPictures: hey guys

X_Sidny: Hi Miri!

EV090: Ok, so I told Miri about this already (hi miri) but you know those security keypads you'll find outside of gates or on the back entrances to places? There's one in the business park that we always used to pass, next to a back door. I passed it a few days ago it was playing music. But the next day it was making this screeching noise, and it was making even stranger noises two days ago. Have you ever heard of anything like that?

MiriamPaintsPictures: It's been forever Sidney!

MiriamPaintsPictures: Also I didn't see it but Everett called me when it was playing noise so I heard it.

EV090: yeah i just held the phone out to it.

EV090: it freaked me out actually. i went inside but i couldn't really stay long, i just kept standing in the little back hallway, listening to it screeching outside through the cracked door as the sun started going down and the vapor trails got colorful.

EV090: i just needed someone else to hear it.

Sidny_X: Everett, I’ve never seen anything like what you’re describing. You said it was a single-door access control system? Those units are usually designed so that security personnel can communicate with people coming into the building, in this case delivery truck drivers. It’s basically a two way intercom, so for speech to be audible, there’s usually a button someone is holding down as they speak. You don't usually see sustained signal units in this kind of application, that's more of a fast food drive-thru thing, which is what's bothering me about it. You said it’s been playing music for a couple of days? Sounds weird as hell. Maybe someone’s gone in, propped something against the button, and left a radio on somewhere in there.

Sidny_X: sorry, just saw what you wrote. Not trying to freak you out or anything. It just seems odd that one of those would sustain a signal for days at a time.

MiriamPaintsPictures: sorry Everett :(

MiriamPaintsPictures: maybe you should get Liam to go back with you next time and you guys can both check it out.

EV090: that's ok Sidney, thanks for the input

MiriamPaintsPictures: I wish I could go back with you guys. i'm fucking sick of New york. definitely not as cool as I thought it would be.

Sidny_X: Although I suppose it could be possible that the access control unit is somehow linked to a telephone or radio system beyond just two-way, and the sounds you're hearing are radio signals it's picking up. Sort of like how guitar amplifiers occasionally pick up radio signals and play them. Only it shouldn't be so sustained, still, that's the most plausible explanation I have right now.

Sidny_X: Also, Miri, what are you doing in New York?
