The second essay asks you to follow up and expand on any of the Kurzweil responses (responses 4-6). The possibilities include

• Technological Progress: Implications of exponential growth; evolutionary paradigm
  
  
• Life Cycle of a technology: Choose a specific technology and describe its progress from precursor, to invention, through obsolescence
  
  
• Uploading the Brain: pros and cons of storing the contents of the brain in a machine

4-5 pages, double-spaced. As with essay 1, research is not required, but you must cite sources if you use them.
