For the second essay, identify and discuss 3-5 related forms of dead media, like those discussed in the Sterling essay. Do not include the dead media mentioned in Sterling unless you have something significant to add to his discussion.
By related forms, I mean dead media that you can put into the same category (aside from "dead," of course). For example, if I consider the typewriter to be a dead media device, I could also include carbon copy paper, typewriter ribbon, correction fluid, etc.
Then consider why the media died. What technological, cultural, economic, or other changes led to its obsolescence? What replaced it? Is it truly obsolete, or are there still some limited uses?
