Aimee Flannery is an Associate Professor of Civil, Environmental, and Infrastructure Engineering at George Mason University. Dr. Flannery received her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and her Ph.D. from The Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Flannery’s current role in the department includes the development of several graduate level and undergraduate courses to support the needs of the expanding department. She also serves as the Graduate Student Coordinator. Dr. Flannery developed the transportation related courses for the CEIE Department, including:
Introduction to Transportation Engineering (CEIE 360)
Traffic Engineering (CEIE 461/561)
Traffic Engineering Modeling and Analysis (CEIE 767)
Design of Transport Systems (CEIE 490/565)
Intelligent Transportation Systems (CEIE 490/663)
In June of 2001, Dr. Flannery was invited to be a full member of the Transportation Research Board’s Highway Capacity and Quality of Service Committee and to chair a task force on the Quality of Service Issues for the Committee. Dr. Flannery’s current research includes two National Cooperative Highway Research Program studies that will investigate the application of roundabouts in the United States and urban street level of service. Dr. Flannery serves as the Primary Investigator on these projects for George Mason University (NCHRP 3-65 Applying Roundabouts in the United States and NCHRP 3-70 Multimodal Level of Service of Urban Streets). Dr. Flannery is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Michigan.
